The mission of VFW Post 3128 is to “honor American war dead by helping the living” through community service and supporting national security and a strong national defense.

The DeKalb County Alabama Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3128 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of United States military veterans, their families and the local community. This includes those who have sacrificed so much for this country, whether they be former active-duty military veterans, those presently serving in our Armed Forces, and/or our veteran Reserve Forces and the National Guard. All of the

Post’s veterans’ families are included in this process.  VFW Post 3128 seeks to provide unique and urgently needed services that improve the lives of veterans, military personnel and their families all the while supporting positive citizen involvement for the betterment of DeKalb County, Alabama communities.

The VFW Post’s varied programs include financial grants for military families in need to help pay for rent, mortgages, utilities, medical treatment and food; assistance for veterans in filing of claims with  U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; and patriotic student essay contests that recognize outstanding American youth. All these programs are non-political, free and require no affiliation for assistance.

VFW Post 3128 members strive to preserve and strengthen camaraderie among its members; to perpetuate the memory of American war dead,
to assist all of their widows, widowers and orphans; to maintain true allegiance to the government of the United States of America and fidelity
to its Constitution and laws; to foster true patriotism, to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom; and to preserve and defend the United States from all her enemies, whomever and wherever they may be.
