Welcome to District 6 in the My VFW Florida Network. The Florida Veterans of Foreign Wars has a rich tradition of serving veterans, military families and their local communities. We invite you to explore this website and our entire VFW Florida network of sites to learn more about our organization.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America is an organization Chartered by Congress and Recognized by VA for Claim Representation.
More than 7,900 Posts comprise 54 Departments in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Latin America, the Pacific Areas and Europe.
The state of Florida is number ten on the list of Departments and Florida has 22 Districts that in 2012 had 74,986 members. We are district 6 in the VFW Department of Florida with 11 Posts that in 2012 had 4985 VFW members strong not counting Ladies and Mens Auxilaries. History of District Six District 6 was Chartered June 29th, 1969 that is the date on our charter! But on our plaque of Past Commanders it starts with the first Commander John W. Loos who served 2 years 1948 – 49 – 50. The only plausible excuse that has been given for this is redistricting in 1969. If you know of another reason please let the historian know.
If you are a veteran and would like to join the VFW, we invite you to fill out our Join the VFW form.
