Dating back to 1899, the Veterans of Foreign Wars started their journey to secure rights and benefits for American Veterans returning from harms way only to find him or herself without medical care or pension.
Being a key element in the establishment of the Veterans Administration, creating the GI Bill, developing the national cemetery system, and the constant fight to capture compensation for our veterans that returned home with injuries and illnesses as a result of their combat experience.
Annually, the nearly 2 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliaries contribute more than 8.6 million hours of volunteerism in the community, including participation in Make A Difference Day and National Volunteer Week.
From providing over $3 million in college scholarships and savings bonds to students every year, to encouraging elevation of the Department of Veterans Affairs to the president’s cabinet, the VFW is there.
And That is Just a Few Things That the Veterans of Foreign Wars has Done!
