Rain was in the forecast but the day was sunny and bright as the Comrades and Sisters gathered at Cabool VFW Post 473 for the District 18 meeting. Department of Mo Commander Tom Mundell was the official representative for the VFW and Dept of Mo Ladies Auxiliary President Danetta Wakefield was the official representative for the Ladies Auxiliary.
The meetings started promptly at 10:00 am as usual with District 18 Commander Ed Hawley conducting the opening ceremonies. Following the opening ceremonies, post commander reports and committee reports ………………………..
Dept of Mo Surgeon Chris Johnston spoke about the “21 Gun Salute” and how each post can use this tool to assist the Dept of Mo in raising funds to host the 2014 National Convention. The “21 Gun Salute” is a raffle that will draw a ticket for a gun each day for 21 days. The tickets are $21.oo each. All proceeds will go towards hosting the National Convention to be held in St Louis, Mo.
