The School of Instruction for the 18th District of the Department of Mo Veterans of Foreign Wars was held at VFW Post 473 in Cabool, Mo on June 23, 2012. It was well attended by the posts in the 18th District with only one post not having a representative present. Nine Post Commanders were present with a total District members present of 28. There were also three Ladies Auxiliary members present. Dept of Mo Jr-Vice Commander Tom Mundell was there representing the Dept of Mo and District 15 Commander Levi Wood was there to assist.

The School of Instruction began promptly at 10:00 a.m.with CDR Johnston leading off covering everything in the 2012-13 CDR/QM Dept of Mo VFW program guide. CDr Johnston reviewed the deadline dates for programs. District 18 Women in the VFW Chairman Ruth Vaughn spoke on membership goals. CDR Johnston spoke on the importance of the Buddy Poppy and urged posts to get their orders for Buddy Poppy made early. District 18 Legislative Chairman Charlie Dickinson told of the success in getting funding passed for our Mo Veterans Homes and urged the members to contact their Mo State Representative to thank them.

The 18th District School if Instruction for 2012 – 2013 was very successful and members left enthused for the coming year programs. Post 473 QM Olewinski and Post 3770 QM Kelley were finally able to leave around 1:30 p.m.
