The WWII vet from Leadington VFW Post 5741 “Duck” started doing research on Dr. Appleberry and thought it would be great to have some sort of remembrance. Well, it ballooned from there.
What they ended up with was a graveside ceremony with a 21 gun salute. This was followed by presentations to the families and a luncheon. The ceremony brought the children of Doctor Appleberry and the patient Jackie Miles together. They were able to share the stories they had heard and cemented a bond they had because of their fathers.
It was a very good tribute Kudos Leadington VFW Post 5741! Way to go you all set the example!!
