Posts 2513 and 4195 honor World War II veteran

VFW Posts 2513 and 4195 presented medals and service flags to the family of Private William S. Adams on Oct. 1 during a ceremony at Adams Memorial Cemetery. Many family members attended the event, including William’s sister, Joella Beard and some of her great grand children.

This event honored the sacrifice of a Johnson County soldier, William S. Adams who died on Oct. 5, 1944 at the age of 20 at the Siegfried Line in Germany. He was a member of the 743rd Tank Battalion, which came onto Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944 and helped break the German line at Urbach and Aachen.
