New Melle VFW Recognizes Two Members for Outstanding Service

The New Melle VFW presented awards to two members at their meeting on Sept. 17, 2015.

James O. (Jim) Sickler (above, center) received a certificate, pin and patch honoring his 70 years of continuous membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Jim is 93 years old and has contributed many years of work and loyalty to VFW Post 5651. Presenting the award were Cdr. Jeff Davis (right) and Sr. Vice Cdr. Cornelius Gloth.

Cornelius L. Gloth. (above, center) was recognized for his achievement in performing 500 Military Honors as a member, dynamic team leader, and Co-Captain of VFW 5651 Honor Guard. His certificate says, “You have unselfishly given hours and days of personal time and resources to ensure that 500 fellow Veterans were accorded proper Military Honors as stipulated by the Missouri Military Honors Program. Thiemann-Tidd VFW Memorial Post 5651 is very appreciative of your continuing efforts and hard work in support of the Post and the Post Honor Guard.”

Post 5651 Honor Guard has performed 662 Military Honors since Jan. 2004. Presenting the award were Cdr. Jeff Davis (right) and Honor Guard Captain, Ray Welge.
