Gov. Nixon has submitted the following appointments to the State Senate for confirmation:
Missouri Veterans Commission
Gov. Nixon has appointed Paul E. Conners, of Blue Springs, age 66; Emmett W. Fairfax, of Sedalia, age 78; and Nancy M. Nelson, of Imperial, age 37; to the Missouri Veterans Commission. The Commission ensures that Missouri’s veterans homes, agencies and resting places provide effective, dignified and honorable services for veterans, their families and their dependents.
Connors is the CEO and owner of PCA Services Inc., an accounting and tax preparation firm in Blue Springs. He has been the Veterans of Foreign Wars state financial officer for the past 10 years, supervising all aspects of the organization’s operations and veterans service programs. The Governor appointed Connors for a term ending March 17, 2013.
Farirfax has been a salesperson with Broadway Realty in Sedalia since 1997. Prior to his work in the private sector, Fairfax was Senate Investigator for the Missouri Senate from March 1982 to June 1983 and from January 1985 to December 1996; from June 1983 to December 1984, he was appointed to fill an unexpired term as Pettis County Sheriff, a position in which he also served from 1961 to 1977. Fairfax served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954. The Governor appointed Fairfax for a term ending Nov. 2, 2009.
Nelson is a marine analyst at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and an associate’s degree from Jefferson College. She has served on active duty with the U.S. Navy and in the Naval Reserves, with a total of 18 years of military service. The Governor appointed Nelson for a term ending March 17, 2013.
