KANSAS CITY, Mo. (July 25, 2018) — Kevin C. Jones, of Smithville, Mo., was appointed Adjutant General of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States on July 25, 2018, at the 119th VFW National Convention in Kansas City, Mo. His duties are the same as every chief executive officer in the nonprofit corporate world.
Kevin joined the VFW National Headquarters staff in 1996 as an accounting manager, and has held a wide variety of ever-increasing responsibilities in the organization. He has been the manager of Institutional Development with the VFW Foundation, the VFW Development assistant director, VFW Programs deputy director, VFW Marketing Services director, VFW Programs director, and VFW Administrative Operations director. He served as assistant adjutant general prior to his current appointment.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years as an accounting technician, budget analyst and accounting manager. Among his assignments was a tour of duty at Osan Air Base, Korea, which is where he earned VFW eligibility. His military decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Air Force Achievement Medal with one oak leaf, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Troy State University while on active duty, as well as an associate of science degree in financial management from the Community College of the Air Force.
Kevin joined the VFW in 1996 at Post 5789 in Lee’s Summit, Mo., later transferring to Post 7356 in Parkville, Mo., where he maintains his Gold Legacy Life membership.
He is a member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers and the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society, Troy State University.
