We all know someone, either a family member or a friend, who committed years of their lives to support our freedom. Often away from home for long periods of time, in conditions that are hard to describe, they don’t talk much about what they went through with family or friends. Hillsborough Grady Brown Elementary School is honoring local veterans on Tuesday, November 12th, at 1 p.m.
the school asks veterans to wear their hats, bring their medals, and maybe even wear their uniform (if it still fits!). Attendees should arrive by 12:45 for seating before the program begins.

Veterans in District 6 are gathering in Creedmoor for a Veterans’ Day Golf Tournament, Monday, November 11, 2013. South Granville Country Club is the event ssite. Location is 2539 Sam Moss Hayes Road, Creedmoor, NC.

Durham, NC – Veterans, family, and friends gathered at the Durham Vietnam Veterans Living Memorial in Durham, NC, to observe the 20th anniversary of the construction of the Memorial.Jerond Belton, Sr., who is the founder and designer of the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial, welcomed everyone to a time of music, song, and reflection. After laying of the wreath by Larry Campbell, Col.,US Army (Retired), and member of VFW Post 2740 in Durham, a tribute to POW’s and MIA’s was given by First Sgt. Larry Thomas, (Retired US Army).
Guest speaker Ken Sellers, a Vietnam veteran and member of VFW Post 1920 in Mebane, NC, spoke of the challenges returning soldiers and veterans face as they transition back to civilian life. The message was one of help and hope that we all can share in.
Past District Commander Ken Sellers will attend the 20th Anniversary of the Durham Vietnam Veterans Memorial and serve as the guest speaker. Ken served as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy in combat in Vietnam.
Please join him as a representative of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and local veteran. Please share this information with other veterans and your friends in the area who may have family that served in Vietnam.
