Huge Turnout for District Meeting

We had a great meeting on January 21st. Yanceyville Post 7316 was proud to be the host of the event. We are proud of our post and we are especially proud of our Teacher of the Year, Sue Graves, and our Patriots Pen winner, Amber Hogan. It goes without saying that we are proud of all the students and teachers that participated in Patriots Pen and Voice of Democracy.

Wounded Warrior Benefit Concert Oct 8th

The Lobo Bluegrass Festival is heading our way. This festival will benefit the Wounded Warriors Project. Concert begins Saturday, October 8th, at noon behind the Yancey House (Purple House) at 699 U. S. Hwy 158 out of Yanceyville. Bring your lawn chairs. Concessions will be available.

Local Soldier Killed in Afghanistan

Sergeant Colby Richmond was killed in Afghanistan last Thursday August 25th. He was killed when a tractor-trailer he was driving was hit by an IED. Sergeant Richmond enlisted in 2006 and deployed to Afghanistan in August 2010.
