Our Post Wins National Recognition

Yanceyville VFW Post 7316 received the VFW National Outstanding Community Service Award, along with 61 other posts. Post 7316 was the only North Carolina Post to receive the award: there are about 6400 VFW posts across the country and some foreign posts as well. The awards were given out at a luncheon where the Nation Commander-In-Chief spoke.

World War I – The NC Centennial Commemoration

Governor Pat McCrory will launch the state’s four-year long Centennial Commemoration of World War I at a wreath-laying ceremony at the North Carolina Veterans Monument on the grounds of the State Capitol Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014. Yanceyville Hosts Changing America Exhibit

The Caswell County Historical Association is one of only 50 sites in the United States selected to host the Changing America: The Emancipation Proclamation, 1863, and the March on Washington, 1963, exhibit. VFW Yanceyville Post 7316 is participating in this special event on Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Yanceville Town Hall.

Yanceyville Christmas Parade – Dec 7th

Yanceyville Post 7316 will march in the Yanceyville Christmas Parade on December 7th. This is a very historic day and we plan to have a strong representation of veterans. Local and district VFW members and posts are asked to be at the Yanceyville Civic Center not later than 9:30 a.m. for parade formation. The parade begins promptly at 10 a.m.

Caswell County Honors Vietnam War Casualties

On Monday March 19th, at 6:30 p.m., in the “Old Historic Courthouse” in Yanceyville,a “Proclamation” will be read welcoming home Vietnam Veterans. It will be at the beginning of the meeting. The proclamation will contain recognition of the six Caswell County Veterans that were Killed in Action (KIA) in Vietnam.

Huge Turnout for District Meeting

We had a great meeting on January 21st. Yanceyville Post 7316 was proud to be the host of the event. We are proud of our post and we are especially proud of our Teacher of the Year, Sue Graves, and our Patriots Pen winner, Amber Hogan. It goes without saying that we are proud of all the students and teachers that participated in Patriots Pen and Voice of Democracy.
