Korean War Vets Sought for Recognition

Korean War veterans will be honored on Veterans Day weekend and 100 of the vets will be invited will be invited to register for a Private Invitation-Only Guided Tour of Fort Bragg with MASH Cast Members on board.  This special event takes place on Sunday, November 10th, at noon and will last about two and a half hours.

MASHAs a point of departure for thousands of soldiers during the Korean War, Fort Bragg serves as a memorable site for many Korean War veterans. Now, sixty years later, these veterans, along with MASH stars Loretta Swit, William Christopher, and Jamie Farr, will relive their experiences on an exclusive tour of the base, guided by a renowned local Korean War historian.

Veterans will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of television’s most-loved stars, and the cast members of MASH will have the opportunity to hear real-life stories of sacrifice and bravery from the heroes that inspired their characters. The tour will revisit many sites where Korean War Veterans trained on Ft. Bragg, as well as a stop at the incredible 82nd Airborne Division Museum.

Buses will depart from the Airborne & Special Operations Museum (ASOM) at 12 pm. Registered participants are asked to meet there.

This special event is part of Heroes Homecoming III. Fort Bragg Communities of Cumberland County created Heroes Homecoming as a way of showing all veterans that they remember and appreciate their courage, their sacrifice, and everything they’ve done to defend our freedom. Taking place Veterans Day weekend 2013, Heroes Homecoming III will feature four full days of events, exhibits, recognition ceremonies and entertainment designed to honor and pay tribute to the 5.7 million soldiers that participated in the Korean War. This year’s celebration will also feature celebrity guests and special appearances by stars of the hit TV series MASH.
