The sun rises gently over Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery as members of the post gather at 6:30 a.m. to decorate the graves of local veterans. We do this on the Saturday of Memorial Day Holiday Weekend.
Everyone is invited to attend and to place a flag or flags on veteran graves. It takes about 35 minutes to complete because so many join us to help.
Next, we socialize and welcome people as they arrive for the 8 a.m. memorial service.
Local media frequently attend to photograph the flag placement and to talk to participants. You are encouraged to bring your camera. The pictures can be breathtaking.
At 9 a.m. we are just about done. Post members, joined by local veterans and friends, head off to Bob Evans Restaurant for a no-host breakfast. Why not join us and learn more about what the post does and how you can help us help other veterans and their families.
