Chapel Hill Post 6 announced that the local Patriot’s Pen winner was Jake Marold of Chapel Hill. Jake went on to represent the post in district competition and won Third Place. Jake and his parents will be recognized locally at a dinner on December 7th and for his district award on January 5th in Mebane.
The deadline for the 2012-2013 program was November 1, 2012. The theme for 2012-2013 was: “What I Would Tell America’s Founding Fathers.” First Place district winners are judged at state level and one is selected to represent the state in national competition and a $5,000 scholarship.
Local middle school students are encouraged to participate in this program and should start preparation early and during the summer break. Judging is keen and requires a thorough understanding and research of the topic to be competitive. Learn more
