Although the end of the calendar year is almost upon us, we are only at the half-way point of the VFW’s fiscal year and there is a great deal going on.
Commander Babcock has been working hard to not only find a new place for our Post’s storage building, but also to find someone to move it at a reasonable cost. It appears that he may have been able to accomplish both, and the shed is scheduled to be moved this week!!!
We had a well-attended Christmas Dinner, and Commander Babcock is working on the final items we need for our VFW Foundation Community Service Grant. Our Post has helped to purchase a thermal imaging camera for the Blanchard Fire Department and purchased a ballistic vest for one of the Blanchard Police Department’s officers will help from this grant. The Auxiliary has applied for a similar grant to help purchase some needed items for the Veteran’s Home in Norman.
We will be starting out the new year with a the drawing for the 1st half PEP winners. As of right now, there are 123 entries. Each entry represents something that one of our members did to help give back, nothing does a better job of showing what our members do when you look at that number of items being done by our small post.
We at the Tony K Burris VFW Post 3608 hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and holiday season and look forward to a wonderful 2018.
PS – Don’t forget that our meeting location is now the Open Door Baptist Church, which is located at 2388 US Highway 62, or almost exactly 2.1 miles southwest of the Main Street stoplight by the Tony K Burris statue.
