Jerry was a Life Member of both Disabled America Veterans (DAV) and Veterans of
Foreign Wars (VFW) and a member of VFW Post 3656. Jerry served in the U.S. Army for
17 years, including tours in Vietnam as a member of a Special Forces. Jerry lived in Bristow, OK
and is survived by three children, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
As a long-time advocate for Oklahoma’s veterans, Jerry served as National Chairman for the Native
American Veterans Inter-Tribal Association, Chaplain of the Oklahoma Veterans Council, the
Muskogee VA Medical Center Management Assistant Council, as well as numerous other committees.
Jerry also served on the Veterans Advisory Board of U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe and U.S. Congressman
Oklahoma Secretary of Military and Veterans’ Affairs Major General (Ret.) Rita Aragon said “Jerry
was a FORCE for every individual veteran’s needs and rights. He was a personal and devoted friend;
his passing will leave a giant hole in the collective hearts of all who knew him. This state was a better
place because of Jerry Riley.”
Services for Jerry will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Chuck West Field House at
Bristow High School in Bristow, OK.
