VFW Riders ImageInterested in starting a VFW Riders Group? It is really not all that difficult, but it does take a little bit of effort. If you have as little as 3 or 4 VFW and/or Auxiliary members you can start a riders group. Members from other posts can join in as well to establish your group. Once you get enough members interested, determine which post, district or department will sponsor the riders group. You must get the voting body of that sponsor to approve the formation of the riders group by a majority vote during a meeting. Once that is approved, the Riders Group Approval Form  must be completed, signed and submitted to Department Headquarters who upon the Department Commander and/or Adjutant’s approval will submit the application and patch design to National VFW Headquarters for approval.  Before submitting the form (forms available for download below) and designing your patch(s) ensure you read and follow the guidelines as provided in VFW Resolution 308 VFW Riders Group” and Guidelines. Your patch(s) design will have to be submitted along with your request form for approval to National Headquarters. Once you have the approval back from VFW National Headquarters, be sure and have all riders and passengers fill out a VFW Rider application. Keep them and your National approval on file in your sponsoring organization’s records……….If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email Curt Watts at curtwatts09@gmail.com or give him a call at (405) 590-8577.  Good Luck!
