Saturday 5/23/15 Annual Memorial Day Parade begins at 10:45am by the Stewart Avenue entrance of Marathon Park in Wausau. Parade travels into the downtown to the VFW Clubhouse on River Drive. Veterans Memorial Service to follow at 11am with opening remarks from the City Representative. Following will be the exercise of the Military Rites and Taps. Please join us as we honor our fallen comrades by coming out and enjoying the parade.
Seventh District Commander “Trapper John” Schultz has announced his candidacy for Department Junior Vice Commander. The election will be held at the Department Convention in Wausau on June 6. Schultz is an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was named All State Post Commander five times and twice won a National Community Service Award and has served in numerous state and national assignments. He is presently the office manager of the VFW Veterans Service Office in Milwaukee.
The Seventh District of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of Wisconsin, is proud to announce the election of Michele Rathke of Merrill VFW Post 1638 to be the District Commander for 2015-16. She will assume the office at the end of the Department Convention to be held in Wausau, June 3-6 at the Plaza Hotel. Rathke has twice been awarded the prestigious All-American status as Post Commander. She will be the first female commander of District 7. The Seventh District is comprised of 36 great VFW Posts across Adams, Green Lake, Langlade, Marathon, Marquette, Menominee, Portage, Shawano, Waupaca, Waushara and Wood Counties. The Wisconsin Veterans of Foreign Wars has a rich tradition of serving veterans, military families and their local communities.
