VA to Expedite Claims Decisions for Veterans

The Department of Veterans Affairs announced today it is implementing an initiative to expedite compensation claims decisions for Veterans who have waited one year or longer. Effective today, VA claims raters will make provisional decisions on the oldest claims in inventory, which will allow Veterans to begin collecting compensation benefits more quickly, if eligible. Veterans will be able to submit additional evidence for consideration a full year after the provisional rating, before VA issues a final decision. Continue reading

Vets for Vets is proud to announce Dr. Lorry Fenner as our next guest speaker!

Dr. Lorry Fenner, a retired Air Force Colonel who now works for the National Defense University in Washington DC, will be coming to Madison on the 18th of April to give her case supporting the inclusion of women in the combat arms of the military. The purpose of her lecture will be to spark thoughtful, academic discussion on the topic and allow listeners to come to their own conclusions on the matter. Continue reading

All Posts in Wisconsin’s VFW 9th District should be attending the spring convention on Saturday, April 20, 2013. This spring the event is hosted by Almena Post 8512 and its Auxiliary in Almena, Wisconsin. Lunch will be served at St. Matthews Church following a memorial service for our departed comrades. Registration begins at 0900 hours for both the VFW and Auxiliary. However, the groups are meeting at separate locations.
