VA to Expedite Claims Decisions for Veterans

The Department of Veterans Affairs announced today it is implementing an initiative to expedite compensation claims decisions for Veterans who have waited one year or longer. Effective today, VA claims raters will make provisional decisions on the oldest claims in inventory, which will allow Veterans to begin collecting compensation benefits more quickly, if eligible. Veterans will be able to submit additional evidence for consideration a full year after the provisional rating, before VA issues a final decision. Continue reading

Vets for Vets is proud to announce Dr. Lorry Fenner as our next guest speaker!

Dr. Lorry Fenner, a retired Air Force Colonel who now works for the National Defense University in Washington DC, will be coming to Madison on the 18th of April to give her case supporting the inclusion of women in the combat arms of the military. The purpose of her lecture will be to spark thoughtful, academic discussion on the topic and allow listeners to come to their own conclusions on the matter. Continue reading

Ladies Newsletter April, 2013

                                                      APRIL 5, 2013   Dear Sisters,    Thank You Amanda, Sr. Vice President, for conducting our February meeting in my absence. Our Auxiliary meeting was in good hands.   All year end reports have been completed and sent to District President Shirley Anderson. I did not realize how detailed and time consuming these reports are. Thanks to Amanda’s help, we sailed along.   Welcome to our 13 new transfer members, Kathleen Burzynski, Judy Daniels, Diane Johnson, Arlene Kulas, Anne Kuligowski, Annette Kuligowski, Kathleen Latawiec, Dolores Lewandowski, Marie Murphy, Virginia Rocke Orlowski, Helen Ruthenberg, Marie Wilke, and Jeanne Wilson. Greendale VFW Post #10519                                                       APRIL-2013 NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, I would like to thank our March meeting guest speaker Leslie Patterson, a Nutrition Researcher from the VA Medical Center. Ms. Patterson gave an informative presentation to the Post members and Ladies Auxiliary regarding nutritional eating and portion/serving control. At  the March 25th meeting we opened the nominations for Post Officers for the 2013-2014 VFW year. The nominations will remain open until the April 22nd meeting at which time the Post members will vote. All the positions have nominee’s except for Post Surgeon. It would be ideal to have more than one person run per position. At this point the following members have been nominated: Commander (John Ustruck), Quartermaster (Ken Kieck), Senior Vice Commander (Theresa McQuire), Junior Vice Commander (Bill Pekrul), Chaplin (Roger Volland), Surgeon (open) and one Trustee (Bob Karwowski).
