Ladies Newsletter May, 2015

Dear Sisters, It is with a heavy heart to report the passing of Elaine Kriesel on Sunday, April 12th. As her Son David would say, the VFW and Auxiliary were her second home. Rest in Peace Elaine, we will miss you. On a lighter note, welcome to Auxiliary Sisters from 1912, West Allis. It is always disheartening when an auxiliary needs to disband, but we are very pleased to have you now at 10519, Greendale. Please mark your calendars for the 4th Monday of the month, at 6:30. We meet jointly with the post, plan to stay for refreshments after each meeting. We welcome you with open arms! This month we donated 70 pair of mens underwear and 64 T-shirts to Zablocki VA Medical Center . Thanks to super shoppers Karen Janezic and Joan Winkleski for the great buy! ($229.00) Jill Woznicki, Karen and myself presented them to Hospital Representative LaVerne Trautman. Pictures were taken, so hopefully we will get a little publicity in the VFW News. Newsletter Post 10519 May, 2015

MAY 2015 NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, It is sad to report on the passing of Louis Fischer, affectionately known as the Poppy King. Louie passed away on Easter, April 12th, after several years of health issues. Louie was a Korean War combat Veteran. Louie did not miss an opportunity to distribute Poppies, at our Post events, truck & tractor shows and at Associated Bank. Louie brought in many dollars to the Post. Also the Post and Auxiliary lost another person very active in the Poppy program. Elaine Kriesel also passed away on Easter, April 12th as well. Elaine was the wife of past Commander Dave and very instrumental in getting our Poppy programs where we are today. Elaine , and sister Barbara counted all proceeds and kept the records for many years. Both of these fine members will be missed. As most of you know by now the Greendale residents have voted in favor of the School Board deeding back the land that we have been seeking for our Veterans Memorial in the village. … Continue reading
