GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 NOVEMBER- 2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, Welcome to November, the transition month from fall to winter. I have no new hospitalizations to report at this time. On behalf of the all the Post members I would like to once again offer our condolences to Bob and Karen Karwowski for the recent loss of their son. Get well wishes go out to all who are dealing with health issues. I would like welcome new transfer member TJ Oman to the Post. TJ is a Greendale resident and transfers in from the Wauwatosa Post. Welcome TJ. Post membership has done well over the last few months. The Post has been recognized by both Department of Wisconsin and VFW National for having achieved 100% membership for the 2018-2019 VFW year. We usually obtain 100% but this is the earliest we reached our goal in my time here. We would also welcome back Tom Schultz who had left for Oregon on a short business venture. Auxiliary Newsletter November, 2018

  NOVEMBER-2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519,   The colors have disappeared and the leaves are off the trees. You know what comes next! If only our winter months went as fast Spring, Summer and Fall. November is an important month, time set aside to honor our Veterans. On Friday, November 2nd, a Veterans program was held at the Greendale Library. VFW and American legion member Bob Kennedy, and American Legion member Leo Taylor, were honored and presented with a Quilt of Honor. It was a wonderful evening honoring all our Veterans.   Saturday, November 3rd, a short Veterans Day Parade stepped off from the municipal parking lot in Greendale to the future site of the Greendale Veterans Memorial. The downtown Milwaukee Veterans Day Parade will take place on Saturday, November 10th, 11:00AM. Our post and auxiliary will present the colors.   The post and auxiliary have a display set up at Associated Bank, 76th Street South of Layton Ave. Stop by, check out the info we are sharing with the community. OCTOBER-2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519,   Happy Fall to Everyone. What an exciting start of Fall for Auxiliary 10519! Front page coverage in the September issue of the VFW news of our Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest Winner, Kayla Juds! Well deserved publicity for such a talented Young Lady, and a feather in our Auxiliaries Cap. Newsletter – September, 2018

GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 SEPTEMBER- 2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, Welcome to September, meteorological summer has ended and the fall season has started and we all know what follows that. I have no new hospitalizations to report. Get well wishes go out to all who are dealing with health issues. On a sad note we had to say goodbye to Dan Raush, a long time Post member who passed away in July. As for membership we have done well as a Post. I would like to welcome Curt Crowdis a Greenfield resident and Navy Veteran and Steven Sheffieck, also a Greenfield resident and an Army veteran. Both attended our last meeting and were voted in. Welcome to the Post. I also have two other applications, one from the VFW Regional Office and one who was recruited at the St Marten’s fair this past weekend. Auxiliary Newsletter – September, 2018

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519,   Welcome to September and new annual member Linda Conatty. She joins our auxiliary under the eligibility of her husband Army Veteran “Sarge” (AKA Dan). You may hear his cadence count as he leads the Color Guard. Thank you Sarge and welcome Linda.   Thank you to all members that have sent in their annual dues. Please take advantage of the stamped, self addressed envelope that was sent out last month and renew your membership today. Newsletter July, 2018

GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 JULY- 2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, Welcome to July, the middle of summer is near. If winter went as fast as summer we wouldn’t have anything to complain about. I have no new hospitalizations to report. Get well wishes go out to all who are dealing with health issues. As for membership I would like to welcome new member Ernie Bauer. Ernie is an Army- Viet Nam vet, who returns to the VFW after a long absence. Welcome back Ernie. On May 11th and 12th we held our Community Poppy Drive. We had seven community businesses that had given us permission to solicit Poppy donations on those dates. We had reasonable success given the cold and rainy 11th of May. Lack of participants and no-shows continue to be a problem. Many of our older volunteers just can’t give us the hours they once did and no one is stepping up to replace those volunteers and hours. Auxiliary Newsletter July, 2018

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519; The 2018-2019 Auxiliary year starts off with a BANG! We welcome new life member Ellen Crass, she joins us under the eligibility of her husband Dan the post adjunct. Welcome Ellen. Beginning of a new auxiliary year means time to renew annual membership. Remember, early bird catches the worm. Watch for treasurer Julie’s renewal notice coming to your mailbox soon.  Every member is an important part of this auxiliary. Department Convention is behind us. Carla Wright (Bellis) and I represented 10519. It was an honor to accept awards on behalf of our Auxiliary.  All your hard work this past year was recognized by department. We received awards for Voice of Democracy, Continuing Education, Young American Patriotic Art, Patriots Pen, VFW News, Emergency and Disaster Relief, Veterans and Military Support, Legislative, Healthy Veterans of Foreign Wars Award. Now we start over for the 2018-2019 auxiliary year. Your input at our monthly meetings is important  for us to continue as a successful auxiliary. Newsletter, May, 2018

GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 MAY- 2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, Welcome to May I think spring time has finally reached Wisconsin. I have no hospitalizations to report. Get well wishes go out to all who are dealing with health issues. As for membership I would like to welcome new member William Howe, a Viet Nam Army Vet, welcome to the Post. I would also like acknowledge three members who have recently upgraded their membership to LIFE MEMBERSHIP, they are Zach Mayo, John Marsh and Eric Waldhart and , another member, Andrew Gleason is in the process of going to PAID for LIFE MEMBERSHIP thanks to all for your commitment to the VFW. The Greendale Veteran’s memorial project is reaching its final stage and building should start soon. Although the money goal has been reached to start the construction, donations are still needed for maintenance, insurance and other expenses. I would anticipate a formal announcement soon along with a date for the ground breaking. I will keep you up to date as I get information. … Continue reading

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519 Thank you to all members in attendance at our April meeting. It warms my heart monthly to see our meeting room full, that’s what makes us a strong auxiliary. Together we can accomplish much for our Veterans and Families. This newsletter may seem a bit repetitious but all important for the Merry Month of May. Nominations and elections were held at our April meeting. Officers for the 2018-2019 auxiliary year are as follows: PRESIDENT-Nancy Ustruck, SR. VICE PRESIDENT-Amanda Patterson, Jr.VICE PRESIDENT-Julie Wetzel, TREASURER-Julie Pipke, CHAPLAIN-Marilyn Volland, CONDUCTRESS-Karen Janezic, HISTORIAN-Marilyn Volland, GUARD-Shirley Meyer (warning! don’t mess with the guard) 3 YEAR TRUSTEE-Gina Lynch, 2 YEAR Joan Winkleski,1 YEAR TRUSTEE-Shirley Anderson, PATRIOTIC INSTRUCTOR-Jill Woznicki, appointed position is Kathi Schmeling as SECRETARY. Thank you for accepting these positions. 2018-2019 year begins immediately after Department Convention. Newsletter – April. 2018

GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 APRIL- 2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, Welcome to April and spring time in Wisconsin. The calendar says April but the thermometer is showing February. I have no hospitalizations to report. Get well wishes go out to all who are dealing with health issues. As for membership I don’t have any new members or transfers to report but we do have a possible new member in process and two members have up graded their membership status to LIFE MEMBERSHIP. Thanks to all. On a sad note the Post has lost a good friend in Tony Chandek who passed away this past week. Tony was a Veteran but not eligible for the VFW. Tony volunteered a lot of his time for Poppy distributions and supported the Post in many other ways. Over the last few years his son has donated a case of fine liquors and wine for gifts at our Post Christmas party. Rest in peace Tony. On a happy note there has been a change in Greendale Veteran’s memorial project. … Continue reading
