GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 DECEMBER-2017- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR. This is a busy time of year for everyone and the Post is no exception. First I am happy to report that I am not aware of any member hospitalized. Keeping with the good news we would like to welcome a new transfer member, Andy Gleason. Andy served in both the Air Force and Army. Andy was also present at our last Post meeting. Welcome. For those of you who were not able to attend our November meeting we hosted the three winners of the Voice of Democracy Essay contest and their families along with the six Honorable Mention participants and their families. We also had an award presentation to the winner of 2017 Creative Patriotic Art award contest. The Auxiliary sponsored Kayla Juds who submitted an outstanding oil painting that won first place in the VFW State competition and went on to National competition. Auxiliary Newsletter December, 2017

   THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS AUXILIARY TO GREENDALE POST 10519 DECEMBER-2017- NEWSLETTER Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519   December has arrived in the blink of an eye. Our auxiliary year is leaning towards the half way mark, so much has been accomplished and always more to be done. Thank you for always jumping in when it comes to our Veterans and Families.   November meeting was well attended, thank you for the support shown to the students of the Patriots Pen competition. It’s always an honor to have the students and their families in attendance. The social time spent with them is quite rewarding.   Also in attendance was Kayla Juds and her family. Our auxiliary sponsored Kayla in the Creative Patriotic Art Contest. Kayla won first place in Department of Wisconsin which went on to the National Competition. We will sponsor her once again for the 2017-2018 contest. Kayla presented the VFW Post with her painting which is on display in the VFW display case in the main hall of the Post. Newsletter November, 2017

NOVEMBER -2017- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, I am happy to report that I have not been notified of any Post member hospitalized. I regrettably have no new members to report or transfers this month. The Milwaukee brewers organization had been contacted for dates for next year’s Poppy distribution. They have responded with two dates, August 7th and August 8th. They are not premium dates and they are mid week games. Not what we wanted but at least we have two dates, some Posts got turned down. More on this as we get near our Poppy season. On November 3rd the annual MILITARY AND VETERANS BALL was held at the Milwaukee Hilton. Post Jr. Vice commander Zach Mayo was involved in the preparation of the event. He invited as special guests two Post member, Bill Pekrul representing the World War II veterans and Harold Kuehnnel representing the Korean War veterans. Auxiliary Newsletter November, 2017

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519   Fall has arrived and with that well wishes go out to Annette Kuligowski and Virginia Roche-Orlowski as they struggle with health related issues. Also to those we are unaware of. Deepest Sympathy to Sandy Kieck on the passing of her Mother, Mary Smith.   I was informed AFTER our October meeting, the Greendale Library would have a display of Veterans Organizations in Greendale. Commander John and I worked together on a visual presentation with information on the purpose of our organization, accomplishments, membership and benefits.   Two opportunities to honor our Veterans will take place Friday the 10th, 6:00 P.M. at Greendale Library. A presentation ” Quilts of Honor”. Post members, Bob Birmingham and Frank Jennik will be the recipients, both comrades are World War II Veterans. Saturday, the 11th, a short Veterans Day parade will step off at 9:00A.M. Newsletter October, 2017

GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 OCTOBER -2017- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, Another month has flown by, they go by fast. I am happy to report that I have not been notified of any Post member hospitalized. However we do have many members dealing with health issues at home, keep them in thoughts and prayers. I have no new members or transfer members to report this month. I ask that you continue to keep recruitment in mind. A strong membership nationwide is what gives the VFW the clout needed to keep our benefits funded. The numbers are important. The Milwaukee brewers organization has been contacted to request dates for next year’s Poppy distribution. They have responded that we will get dates for next year but as of this printing we don’t know which games. I will update you as soon as I get the information. Auxiliary Newsletter October, 2017

   THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS AUXILIARY TO GREENDALE POST 10519 OCTOBER-2017- NEWSLETTER Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 105   Hope this newsletter finds everyone well and enjoying the gorgeous fall weather. Need to pinch myself to realize this is October. District 4 Sr. Vice President (also Department Chief of Staff) Kathy Dahl, joined us September 25th for our yearly auxiliary inspection. Of course we passed with flying colors thanks to all our members. Couldn’t get a good report without you. I was tickled to see so many members at the meeting. Thanks to the post members for setting up tables and chairs for social time. Such a joy to be able to spend time after the meeting with post and auxiliary members.   All our donations have been made for 2017-2018 year. We also made a $200.00 donation to Hop-tel, which is located on the Zablocki VA Medical grounds. Hop-tel is a program that provides temporary overnight lodging to eligible Veterans for outpatient medical procedures. Newsletter – September – 2017

GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 SEPTEMBER -2017- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, The summer months of June, July and August are gone. We can now change our attention to the Fall months. Since our last newsletter we did not sign up any new members to the VFW however we did welcome three transfer members to the Post. A big welcome to James Bergmann of Franklin, Andrew Gleason of Milwaukee and Tom Schultz of Greendale. I am also happy to report that there not any member hospitalized (that I am aware of). If you know of any member hospitalized or in need of help please let me know. During the last three summer months the Post had its final two fund raisers for the year at Miller Park. We did a Friday June 30th game that was cold and rainy, in spite of a good turnout of volunteers we did not do well. We also did a Friday game on July 14th, the weather was perfect and it was a sellout. We did fairly well in spite … Continue reading

Auxiliary Newsletter – September, 2017

   THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS AUXILIARY TO GREENDALE POST 10519 SEPTEMBER-2017- NEWSLETTER Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519,   Fall Greetings to all, and speedy recovery wishes being sent to Virginia Roche-Orlowski, in rehab at St. Luke’s Hospital after a broken hip, and Shirley Meyer hobbling around after foot surgery. Hope you ladies are back to your active selves soon.   Thank you to our members that have renewed their annual membership, we are at 91.83%. Please consider doing so NOW! Let’s get to 100% by October 1st to be eligible for a monetary award from Department and/or National. Notices had been sent out with a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Membership cards will be sent out by National once dues are taken care of. Keep our Greendale Auxiliary strong. Every member is important! Early renewal winners were Mary Jo Garinger and Alison Raison. Their dues will be reimbursed. Keep promoting our auxiliary. Newsletter – July, 2017

JULY -2017- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, I hope everyone is enjoying the summer months so far. The last newsletter was sent out in May. We do not normally do a June newsletter. In May we had the Installation of Officers dinner instead of a regular Post and Auxiliary meeting so there usually isn’t a lot of new things to report. But that does mean that as a Post we have not been busy. I am happy to report that I  not aware there of any members with any new health issues. But we have many who are dealing with current issues as well as some long time health issues. I  also have no new members to report. Please keep recruiting   As mentioned above on May 22nd we had our installation of Officers ceremony and dinner. Approximately 65 people attended. Past Sate Commander Phil Jasinski did the installation ceremony for the Post and Susan Koehler did the officiating for the Auxiliary. Auxiliary Newsletter – July, 2017

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519,   Welcome to our newest member Sarah Berg. Sarah joined under her brother Andy Hushek, retired US Navy , having served in Desert Storm and Iraq. WELCOME SARAH!   Department convention is behind us. I’m pleased to report our auxiliary received 8 awards. As follows: 100% in Reporting and Participation, Veterans and Military Support, Emergency Disaster Relief, Voice of Democracy, Patriots Pen, Hospital, Membership for obtaining 100% and Veterans and Family Support. It’s always a joy to connect with old friends and make new, we all have the same purpose in mind. It was great to have auxiliary member Carla Bellis attend convention representing our auxiliary also. Consider joining us at department convention next year June 13th-16th, to be held at the Tundra Lodge, Green Bay.   Helen Stearns is our newly elected Department President for 2017-2018.
