GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 MAY- 2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, Welcome to May I think spring time has finally reached Wisconsin. I have no hospitalizations to report. Get well wishes go out to all who are dealing with health issues. As for membership I would like to welcome new member William Howe, a Viet Nam Army Vet, welcome to the Post. I would also like acknowledge three members who have recently upgraded their membership to LIFE MEMBERSHIP, they are Zach Mayo, John Marsh and Eric Waldhart and , another member, Andrew Gleason is in the process of going to PAID for LIFE MEMBERSHIP thanks to all for your commitment to the VFW. The Greendale Veteran’s memorial project is reaching its final stage and building should start soon. Although the money goal has been reached to start the construction, donations are still needed for maintenance, insurance and other expenses. I would anticipate a formal announcement soon along with a date for the ground breaking. I will keep you up to date as I get information. … Continue reading

Auxiliary Newsletter, May, 2018

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519 Thank you to all members in attendance at our April meeting. It warms my heart monthly to see our meeting room full, that’s what makes us a strong auxiliary. Together we can accomplish much for our Veterans and Families. This newsletter may seem a bit repetitious but all important for the Merry Month of May. Nominations and elections were held at our April meeting. Officers for the 2018-2019 auxiliary year are as follows: PRESIDENT-Nancy Ustruck, SR. VICE PRESIDENT-Amanda Patterson, Jr.VICE PRESIDENT-Julie Wetzel, TREASURER-Julie Pipke, CHAPLAIN-Marilyn Volland, CONDUCTRESS-Karen Janezic, HISTORIAN-Marilyn Volland, GUARD-Shirley Meyer (warning! don’t mess with the guard) 3 YEAR TRUSTEE-Gina Lynch, 2 YEAR Joan Winkleski,1 YEAR TRUSTEE-Shirley Anderson, PATRIOTIC INSTRUCTOR-Jill Woznicki, appointed position is Kathi Schmeling as SECRETARY. Newsletter – April. 2018

GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 APRIL- 2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, Welcome to April and spring time in Wisconsin. The calendar says April but the thermometer is showing February. I have no hospitalizations to report. Get well wishes go out to all who are dealing with health issues. As for membership I don’t have any new members or transfers to report but we do have a possible new member in process and two members have up graded their membership status to LIFE MEMBERSHIP. Thanks to all. On a sad note the Post has lost a good friend in Tony Chandek who passed away this past week. Tony was a Veteran but not eligible for the VFW. Tony volunteered a lot of his time for Poppy distributions and supported the Post in many other ways. Over the last few years his son has donated a case of fine liquors and wine for gifts at our Post Christmas party. Rest in peace Tony. On a happy note there has been a change in Greendale Veteran’s memorial project. … Continue reading

Auxiliary Newsletter – April, 2018

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519   April is suppose to bring showers NOT snow. Hope all are well and staying warm, patiently waiting for Spring temperatures and a few showers to help with May Flowers.   Welcome to our new members James Winkleski, Doug Olson, David Kriesel, and Brittany Zellner. Newsletter March, 2018

GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 MARCH 2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, Welcome to March the beginning of meteorological spring and the end of meteorological winter. Being March in Wisconsin we look forward to spring and warmer temps but we also know we are probably not done with winter like weather. I have no hospitalizations to report and no new members to report. Good well wishes go out to all who are dealing with health issues. I know many have had an unpleasant bout of this year’s flu strain. Congratulations to our two VFW Veteran Affairs Volunteers at the Zablocki VA Medical Center. Trustee Bob Karwowski received a Certificate of achievement and a pin recognizing 500 hours of volunteer service at the VA. Quartermaster Ken Kieck was recognized with a pin for achieving 1,500 hours of volunteer service at the VA. They do an excellent job of representing the VFW organization and this Post. The Post and Auxiliary presented appreciation Plaques to two local businesses that have shown support for the Greendale VFW and Auxiliary. A … Continue reading

Auxiliary Newsletter – March, 2018

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519   Another month of 2018 has flown by. We are 4 members short of being 100% in membership. If you have not renewed your annual membership, please do so now. The end of the auxiliary year is quickly coming to an end, (June, after Department Convention) which means it will then be time to renew for 2018-2019. Stay ahead of the game and renew now.   Well wishes go out to Virginia Roche-Orlowski, took a fall and now in rehab. Can’t keep a good woman down, so I know she will be up and about soon. We miss you Virginia. Winter is not over yet, even though the calendar is telling us it is, so please, to all members, stay safe and well. Newsletter February, 2018

GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 FEBRUARY 2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, This is the first newsletter of 2018 and the first since December 2017. Many things have happened in those two months. Let me start by reporting that I do not know of any member currently being hospitalized. I know many members and their families who have been dealing with this year’s active flu season. I can also report that we have not signed any new members or transfers in that time. In the last two months we had our Post Christmas Party, on the 16th Of December. It was a well attended event, 82 people enjoyed the food and camaraderie, it was a very nice evening. Food was excellent and we had many gifts to pass out. Also on December 16th seven Post members attended the WREATHS ACCROSS AMERICA CEREMONY at the Wood’ National Cemetery. Auxiliary Newsletter February, 2018

   THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS AUXILIARY TO GREENDALE POST 10519 FEBRUARY-2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519   FEBRUARY!!!!!! Where did January go? First month of 2018 behind us, time certainly does fly. I hope this newsletter finds all happy, healthy and staying warm. I have no reports of a member battling a health issue which is good news.   Thanks to all auxiliary members and post wives that brought an hors d’oeuvre, dessert, or in some cases both for our annual Christmas Party. There was a great selection of both. You gals go above and beyond with every request presented. Santa Marilyn was busy shopping and wrapping to put a smile on everyone’s face. I wouldn’t be surprised if she is already preparing for Christmas 2018. Thank You Marilyn!   Our treasurer Julie Pipke was contacted by Associated Bank, 76th and Layton, to participate in a competition recognizing Veterans and Veteran Service Organizations throughout the state of Wisconsin. Newsletter Post 10519 December, 2017

GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 DECEMBER-2017- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR. This is a busy time of year for everyone and the Post is no exception. First I am happy to report that I am not aware of any member hospitalized. Keeping with the good news we would like to welcome a new transfer member, Andy Gleason. Andy served in both the Air Force and Army. Andy was also present at our last Post meeting. Welcome. For those of you who were not able to attend our November meeting we hosted the three winners of the Voice of Democracy Essay contest and their families along with the six Honorable Mention participants and their families. We also had an award presentation to the winner of 2017 Creative Patriotic Art award contest. The Auxiliary sponsored Kayla Juds who submitted an outstanding oil painting that won first place in the VFW State competition and went on to National competition. Auxiliary Newsletter December, 2017

   THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS AUXILIARY TO GREENDALE POST 10519 DECEMBER-2017- NEWSLETTER Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519   December has arrived in the blink of an eye. Our auxiliary year is leaning towards the half way mark, so much has been accomplished and always more to be done. Thank you for always jumping in when it comes to our Veterans and Families.   November meeting was well attended, thank you for the support shown to the students of the Patriots Pen competition. It’s always an honor to have the students and their families in attendance. The social time spent with them is quite rewarding.   Also in attendance was Kayla Juds and her family. Our auxiliary sponsored Kayla in the Creative Patriotic Art Contest. Kayla won first place in Department of Wisconsin which went on to the National Competition. We will sponsor her once again for the 2017-2018 contest. Kayla presented the VFW Post with her painting which is on display in the VFW display case in the main hall of the Post.
