Auxiliary Newsletter February, 2016

Dear Sisters,   Valentine Greetings to all Auxiliary members. Hope this finds you all well, warm and enjoying our mild winter. Hope I didn’t jinx February and March.   As of this mailing our membership is at 95 members. A member that has not paid by December 31st, is no longer a member in good standing, unable to attend meetings, but can be back in good standings simply by paying their dues prior to June 30th. Please encourage members to do so. Two mailings have gone out with self-addressed stamped envelopes.   Saturday, February 13th, will be the second showing of “Lucky Strike”. Auxiliary has purchased 4 tickets. If you wish to attend, call Julie Pipke, Treasurer, 414-303-3886 for tickets. See info in this mailing.   March 6th and March 13th, both Sundays, Amanda Pattersons’ Music Students will present their annual Spring Concert for residents at Zablocki VA Medical Center. Concerts begin at 2:00. Come show your support for both students and residents.   There is a new national help hotline for our Veterans. “Vets4Warriors” The mission is to provide … Continue reading

Auxiliary Newsletter December, 2015

Dear Sisters,   This newsletter brings wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy 2016. There will not be a January newsletter since our Christmas Party on December 19th will take the place of our December meeting.   November meeting was well attended by Auxiliary members to show support for our Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen winners and their families. Thank you to Auxiliary members for the abundance of finger foods for the social time with the winners and families after the awards presentations. It warms my heart to see patriotism streaming from these young people.   Once again it was an honor to carry the Auxiliary flag with the Post Color Guard in the 2015 Veterans Day Parade. I look forward to representing the Auxiliary along with the Color Guard in 2016. Thanks Comrades for allowing me the honor.   Thank you to all that have renewed their membership for 2016. If you know of a member that has not paid their dues for 2016, please encourage them to do so. If dues are not paid … Continue reading

Newsletter November, 2015

NOVEMBER 2015 NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, Your November Newsletter is a little late, Nancy and I were on a short vacation in Arizona at the start of the month. I would like to start by welcoming new members Clautin Beutin and Mark Tabbert who were voted in at our October meeting. The Post offers get well wishes to Bob Kennedy who is still recuperating at home. Ralph Steffens who I reported on last month’s sick list has moved from the VA Hospital to the Veterans Home in Union Grove. The date for the Post and Auxiliary Christmas Party is Saturday, December 19th. We are planning the event to be much like last year. There is one correction to last month’s newsletter. In it I wrote that the price was $20.00 per person, that is wrong it is $15.00 per person the same as last year. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be at 5:30 with dinner at 6:30. We are planning on the same caterer and a menu similar to last year. Sign up has … Continue reading

Newsletter October, 2015

OCTOBER 2015 NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, I would like to start this newsletter by offering best wishes and a speedy recovery for Bob Kennedy and Ralph Steffens who are both still recuperating from health issues. On a brighter note, I would like to welcome new member Mark Tabbert to the VFW and the Greendale Post. Mark is an Army-Viet Nam veteran. Welcome Mark. We had our two allotted Poppy distribution games at Miller Park on October 2nd and the 4th against the Chicago Cubs. I am happy to report it was very successful in spite of the cool windy conditions. Two things made it successful, one is the generosity of the many Cubs fans in attendance (there were not many Brewer’s fan ) and secondly and most important was the excellent turn out of volunteers. 18 people answered the call for this very important fund raiser, including five Auxiliary members and two Veterans not members of the Post, ages ranged from the twenties to the nineties. The donations exceeded our expectations. If you want … Continue reading

Dear Sisters, Notice anything different? Look Again! NEW EMBLEM, NEW NAME ! As of August 21st we are now officially known as Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Auxiliary to Greendale Post 10519. An abbreviated version may be FVW Auxiliary to Greendale Post 10519. All eligible men and women seeking membership must fill out an application, be investigated (to make sure they qualify), voted on and accepted. Same procedure as in the past. I’ve heard from Department, we have a few male members in Wisconsin. Great, no time wasted! Let’s get the word out so we also can welcome the newest members to our organization.
