GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 MAY- 2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, Welcome to May I think spring time has finally reached Wisconsin. I have no hospitalizations to report. Get well wishes go out to all who are dealing with health issues. As for membership I would like to welcome new member William Howe, a Viet Nam Army Vet, welcome to the Post. I would also like acknowledge three members who have recently upgraded their membership to LIFE MEMBERSHIP, they are Zach Mayo, John Marsh and Eric Waldhart and , another member, Andrew Gleason is in the process of going to PAID for LIFE MEMBERSHIP thanks to all for your commitment to the VFW. The Greendale Veteran’s memorial project is reaching its final stage and building should start soon. Although the money goal has been reached to start the construction, donations are still needed for maintenance, insurance and other expenses. I would anticipate a formal announcement soon along with a date for the ground breaking. I will keep you up to date as I get information. … Continue reading

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519 Thank you to all members in attendance at our April meeting. It warms my heart monthly to see our meeting room full, that’s what makes us a strong auxiliary. Together we can accomplish much for our Veterans and Families. This newsletter may seem a bit repetitious but all important for the Merry Month of May. Nominations and elections were held at our April meeting. Officers for the 2018-2019 auxiliary year are as follows: PRESIDENT-Nancy Ustruck, SR. VICE PRESIDENT-Amanda Patterson, Jr.VICE PRESIDENT-Julie Wetzel, TREASURER-Julie Pipke, CHAPLAIN-Marilyn Volland, CONDUCTRESS-Karen Janezic, HISTORIAN-Marilyn Volland, GUARD-Shirley Meyer (warning! don’t mess with the guard) 3 YEAR TRUSTEE-Gina Lynch, 2 YEAR Joan Winkleski,1 YEAR TRUSTEE-Shirley Anderson, PATRIOTIC INSTRUCTOR-Jill Woznicki, appointed position is Kathi Schmeling as SECRETARY. April 2018 e-News   APRIL 2018 WVM James Megellas Gallery at King Opens With an expansive remodel complete, the Wisconsin Veterans Museum celebrated the grand re-opening of the James Megellas Gallery on April 20. The interactive museum (take virtual tour here), which covers the rich history of military members from Wisconsin, is housed at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King in its Marden Center. The museum includes stories and artifacts from Veterans who served in United States-involved conflicts from the Civil War until today. A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the museum at King brought dozens of members from the community and members at the home…. Volunteering for Veterans April is National Volunteer Month, a time for us to recognize the incredible work volunteers perform across the nation. Across the WDVA’s three Veterans homes, almost 600 volunteers combined to put in more than 43,000 hours within the last year! GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 APRIL- 2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, Welcome to April and spring time in Wisconsin. The calendar says April but the thermometer is showing February. I have no hospitalizations to report. Get well wishes go out to all who are dealing with health issues. As for membership I don’t have any new members or transfers to report but we do have a possible new member in process and two members have up graded their membership status to LIFE MEMBERSHIP. Thanks to all. On a sad note the Post has lost a good friend in Tony Chandek who passed away this past week. Tony was a Veteran but not eligible for the VFW. Tony volunteered a lot of his time for Poppy distributions and supported the Post in many other ways. Over the last few years his son has donated a case of fine liquors and wine for gifts at our Post Christmas party. Rest in peace Tony. GREENDALE VFW POST 10519 MARCH 2018- NEWSLETTER Greetings Members and Friends of Greendale VFW Post 10519, Welcome to March the beginning of meteorological spring and the end of meteorological winter. Being March in Wisconsin we look forward to spring and warmer temps but we also know we are probably not done with winter like weather. I have no hospitalizations to report and no new members to report. Good well wishes go out to all who are dealing with health issues. I know many have had an unpleasant bout of this year’s flu strain. Congratulations to our two VFW Veteran Affairs Volunteers at the Zablocki VA Medical Center. Trustee Bob Karwowski received a Certificate of achievement and a pin recognizing 500 hours of volunteer service at the VA. Quartermaster Ken Kieck was recognized with a pin for achieving 1,500 hours of volunteer service at the VA. They do an excellent job of representing the VFW organization and this Post. Auxiliary Newsletter – March, 2018

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519   Another month of 2018 has flown by. We are 4 members short of being 100% in membership. If you have not renewed your annual membership, please do so now. The end of the auxiliary year is quickly coming to an end, (June, after Department Convention) which means it will then be time to renew for 2018-2019. Stay ahead of the game and renew now.   Well wishes go out to Virginia Roche-Orlowski, took a fall and now in rehab. Can’t keep a good woman down, so I know she will be up and about soon. We miss you Virginia. Winter is not over yet, even though the calendar is telling us it is, so please, to all members, stay safe and well.
