Auxiliary Newsletter December, 2017

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519

December has arrived in the blink of an eye. Our auxiliary year is leaning towards the half way mark, so much has been accomplished and always more to be done. Thank you for always jumping in when it comes to our Veterans and Families.

November meeting was well attended, thank you for the support shown to the students of the Patriots Pen competition. It’s always an honor to have the students and their families in attendance. The social time spent with them is quite rewarding.

Also in attendance was Kayla Juds and her family. Our auxiliary sponsored Kayla in the Creative Patriotic Art Contest. Kayla won first place in Department of Wisconsin which went on to the National Competition.

We will sponsor her once again for the 2017-2018 contest. Kayla presented the VFW Post with her painting which is on display in the VFW display case in the main hall of the Post. Congratulation Kayla!

Thanks to Santa’s Helper, Joan Winkleski, again this year we participated in the Stars for Veterans program. Joan picked 5 stars off the Christmas tree displayed at West Allis City Hall. Each star had a Christmas wish from a Veteran at the VA Hospital. Smart shopper Joan purchased the 5 gifts for only $111.92. Thank you for taking charge! We look forward to participating again next year.

With military suicide running rampant, the auxiliary has purchased Suicide Awareness Pins. They are in the shape of a tear drop (light blue background) with gold military boots in the middle. The pins are being sold for $3.00 each.

To those battling health issues, we wish you strength and continued healing. Please keep us in the loop, we care about each and every one of our members and friends.

Last call to sign up for the VFW Christmas Party. Information has been sent along with the November newsletter. $20.00 per person, send check to John Ustruck, 3812 S. 57th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53220. Checks payable to VFW Post 10519. Hope to see you there. No monthly meeting in December. We will hold our regular VFW and Auxiliary meeting on Monday, January 22nd, 6:30. Always the 4th Monday of the month.

Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year!
