Auxiliary Newsletter February, 2018

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519

FEBRUARY!!!!!! Where did January go? First month of 2018 behind us, time certainly does fly. I hope this newsletter finds all happy, healthy and staying warm. I have no reports of a member battling a health issue which is good news.

Thanks to all auxiliary members and post wives that brought an hors d’oeuvre, dessert, or in some cases both for our annual Christmas Party. There was a great selection of both. You gals go above and beyond with every request presented. Santa Marilyn was busy shopping and wrapping to put a smile on everyone’s face. I wouldn’t be surprised if she is already preparing for Christmas 2018. Thank You Marilyn!

Our treasurer Julie Pipke was contacted by Associated Bank, 76th and Layton, to participate in a competition recognizing Veterans and Veteran Service Organizations throughout the state of Wisconsin. The state of Wisconsin has over 200 Associated Banks. The competition was divided into 3 zones. The best display in each zone would receive a $1,000.00 award. Julie and I put together a display consisting of Post and Auxiliary accomplishments, along with benefit and membership information. Commander John and I included the Post display from Veterans Week, which was held at the Greendale Library. Between both poster boards, an American Flag, poppies and numerous handouts it was an impressive display honoring our Veterans and drawing attention to Greendale VFW Post and Auxiliary. It is with great excitement I can report our Associated Bank won first place and awarded the $1,000.00 top prize to the Greendale VFW Auxiliary. We will be sharing the award with the post since it was a joint effort. On January 23rd, a formal presentation was held. The bank was pleased with the number of post and auxiliary members in attendance. Thanks to Associated Bank, once again they have proven their patriotism and love for our Veterans.
