Auxiliary Newspaper July, 2019

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of VFWA 10519,

Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable 4th of July. Our VFW color guard looked awesome in the Greendale Village Parade. Thank you to Sandy Kieck for representing our auxiliary proudly carrying our new nylon flag donated by Jane Mlenar. The original auxiliary embroidered cloth flag states we are VFW Auxiliary! (No longer Ladies VFW). As you know males are now eligible to join. ALL are welcome! Thank you to Joan Winkleski for taking on this project, and to her husband Jim for being the financial backer.

The new auxiliary year has begun, which means time to renew your annual membership. Watch for Treasurer Julie Pipkes’ renewal notice. Consider be coming a life member. Info will be in the mailing. The VFWA has been working to Recruit, Rejoin and Retain. Let’s imagine changing these words to INVITE, INCLUDE AND INVEST. As we invite others to join and include all members, we invest in our membership and the future of our organization.

A hearty welcome to our new life member Margaret Warner, eligible through her Dad, Virgil, a Korean War Veteran. WELCOME!

Carla White and I attended Department Convention June 12th – 15th in Appleton. We were honored to represent the auxiliary and bring home awards for all you do for 10519. Not every chairman presented awards this year. We did receive awards for Veterans and Family Support, Buddy Poppy, Veterans and Military Support, National Home for Children (plus a $10 cash award) Community Outreach, and Historian/Media Relations just to mention a few. Thanks to all members as we were Reaching for the Stars for Our Veterans and Families.

September 6th will be our last opportunity for poppy distribution at Miller Park. Please consider assisting the post on the 6th. September 10th-12th our National President, Peggy Haake, from Hawaii will be visiting Wisconsin. Events for her visit have not been finalized, will keep you up to date when shared from our Department President Mary Brown. All are invited to join in and welcome Peggy.

Madam Guard Shirley Meyer doing extremely well after surgery and will continue taking charge of her duty at the door. Can’t keep a good woman down!
Thoughts and Prayers continue for Jim Winkleski and family during this difficult chapter. Please know we care!

Will sign off with reminder Renew Renew Renew annual dues NOW, or better yet become a life member NOW!!
