William H. “Toad” “Buck” Rabuck, age 69, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at his home.
He was born on March 30, 1942, in Madison, the son of Howard “Jack” and Edna (Cunningham) Rabuck. Buck graduated from Madison East High School in 1960, where he played hockey and softball throughout his high school years. Upon graduation, he worked for Dairy Equipment. During that time Buck was drafted, serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He then returned and went back to work as a supervisor, retiring in 2006. Buck was a member of tri-state major league softball. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and fishing trips with his uncles, Mike and Donald. Buck also enjoyed golfing, gambling, and many other travels. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1318, taking a very active role. Buck was Post Commander and All American District Commander. He was a kind, generous, considerate and giving man, whose enormous hugs and carefree love for life will be greatly missed.
Buck is survived by his daughter, Lynn McGinley of Dodgeville; son, Kevin (Michelle) Rabuck of Delco, N.C.; grandchildren, Leo IV, Kelsie, Brandon, and Ryan; two sisters, Janice (Michael) Wheeler of Fitchburg, and Linda (Jim) Edges of Madison; three brothers, Edwin (Gisela) Rabuck of Madison, Joseph (Mary) Rabuck of Sun Prairie, and Michael (Jeanne) Rabuck of Pardeeville; two uncles, Mike (Betty) Cunningham, and Donald Cunningham; aunt, Geraldine Feist; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant grandson, Joey.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, with military rites conducted. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
